Augustus

Augustus was the founder of the Roman Empire with the longest reign over the empire for 41 years. He was given the name Augustus from the senate after as honor of for avenging the death of Caesar with Mark Antony, before having a falling out with Antony. Then later defeat him with the assistance of the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. After that the Roman senate and the Egyptians created a new constitution for the empire.

Marcus Aurelius

Aurelius was considered the last five good emperor and one of the most stoic philosophers. He was a
co-emperor along side with Lucius Verus, until Verus' death. During hid reign he defeated a new Parthian Empire in the east. Then in central Europe fought against Marcomanni, Quadi, Sarmatians, with a threat rising to the surface of the Germanic tribes. A possible revolt could have caused serious issues if it would have gained any momentum but it was immediately suppressed by Aurelius. He then in his lifetime he gained the reputation of a philosopher king and the title would remain after his death. |

Trajan (98 AD - 73 AD) |

Trajan was declared by the senate as the best ruler (optimus princeps). He is one of the empires most outstanding leaders. Under his rule the empire grew to its largest extent. Remembered as a great soldier-emperor who was in command of the greatest military expansion in Roman history. He was respected by all types of people in the Roman Empire. Every Emperor after him was honored by the senate with the wish felielicoir Augusto, Melior Traiano, which meant "be luckier than Augustus and better than Trajan."
